44th Street E Drainage Improvement

Pierce Conservation District is managing the 44th Street E Drainage Improvements project that will be taking place approximately August 10-21, 2026. The purpose of the project is to improve localized flooding and agricultural drainage near Clear Creek by replacing the function of multiple existing road ditch culvert pipes running east west on the north site of 44th St E with a single, larger ditch to be located 20’ to the north of the existing roadside ditch. The project is located west of 50th Ave E. The ditch will originate at the culvert under the road at 50th Ave E. in the Puyallup Watershed, Pierce County and will drain into Nancy’s Ditch approximately 650’ to the west. The project will be entirely within County road right-of-way and on Pierce County Surface Water Management owned parcels that were purchased as part of the larger Clear Creek farm-fish-flood improvement project that will be constructed in phases over the next several years.
